Neighbourhood — Ramnagar

Ramnagar is the historic town across the Ganga from Varanasi, home to Ramnagar Fort — still the residence of the Kashi royal family — and a municipal town in its own right with its own markets and services. Since the Ramnagar bridge opened in 2017, the BHU side of the city is only about 2 km away, which has opened the area up for residential buyers. Ramnagar Fort on the riverbank is the defining landmark; the Ramnagar bridge connects directly toward BHU and south Varanasi, cutting what used to be a long detour.

As an established municipal town, Ramnagar has its own schools, bazaars and local hospitals; for larger medical needs, BHU's hospitals across the bridge are the nearest major facilities.
